title: What Ysra can do
description: "See every tool Ysra can use — search, a real browser, your files, charts and Views, documents, images, code and approvals — which part of Ysra gets which, with examples and what the costly tools cost."

Ysra’s **tools** are the things it can use while it works: searching the web,
opening a site in a real browser, reading your files, drawing a chart, writing
a document, changing code. Each part of Ysra gets only the tools its job needs,
so a public Expert never reaches your private data and Code’s quick replies
never change your project. Use this page to check what a part can do before
you ask it; plan prices are on [Plans and billing](../workspace/billing.md).

## The rule

Each part gets the tools its job needs, and no more. Anything that changes
things outside the conversation (editing code, sending an email, deploying)
happens only where there is an approval, and sends and deploys always wait for
you. Asked “can you…?”, Ysra answers from what is on in that conversation,
says what is off and why, and where to turn it on.

## The tools

| Tool | What it does | Kind |
|---|---|---|
| **Web search** | Finds pages on the web for a question. | Reads |
| **Read a page** | Reads the text of a web page, with its source. | Reads |
| **Real browser** | Opens any public website in an isolated browser, runs its scripts and reads what a person would see; scrolls, clicks and takes screenshots. Never your own browser, tabs or sign-ins. | Reads · charged by use |
| **Read a PDF link** | Reads the text of a PDF on the web. | Reads |
| **Your files** | Reads documents you uploaded or chose (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CSV, images). | Reads |
| **Company sources** | Reads your connected tools: Slack, Jira, Gmail, GitHub and the plugins you connect. | Reads |
| **Ysra docs** | Looks up how Ysra works, to answer “how do I…”. | Reads |
| **Memory** | Remembers what you asked it to keep, across conversations. | Yours only |
| **Look at images** | Understands photos and screenshots you send. | Reads |
| **Make images** | Makes images: photos for a site, a visual, a quick logo. | Makes · charged by use |
| **Save a web image** | Saves an image from the web (a business’s own photos, a logo) into your files. | Makes |
| **Maps route** | Turns an address or a shared map link into a route that opens in the person’s Maps app. | Reads |
| **Charts and Views** | Shows a chart, a diagram or a small interactive page inside the answer. See [Views](../knowledge/views.md). | Makes |
| **Documents** | Writes a Word document, a PowerPoint deck or a PDF. See [Documents and slides](../knowledge/documents.md). | Makes |
| **Spreadsheet** | Creates or updates Excel and CSV files. | Makes |
| **Project files** | Reads, searches, edits and creates the files of a code project. | Reads · changes |
| **Run commands** | Installs, builds, tests and runs a project. | Changes |
| **App preview** | Runs the app it built so you can open it. | Runs |
| **App test browser** | Clicks through the app it built to check it works. | Reads |
| **Watch** | Lets you see Ysra’s browser live while it works. | You watch |
| **Dependency check** | Checks a project’s exact package versions against public advisories: known vulnerabilities, and malicious or hijacked packages. | Reads |
| **Propose an action** | Prepares an email, a Slack post or a Jira change for your approval. | Proposes |
| **Send or post** | Sends the email or post you approved. | Acts · always approved |
| **Publish or deploy** | Puts a site or an app online. | Acts · always approved |
| **Hand off** | Passes a request to Code, or turns it into a Worker. | Routes |

## Who gets what

| Part | Can use | Not here |
|---|---|---|
| [**Ask**](../knowledge/index.md) | Web search, read a page, the real browser, PDF links, your files, company sources, Ysra docs, memory, look at images, make images, save web images, maps routes, charts and Views, documents, spreadsheets, propose actions, hand off to Code or a Worker. | Changing code, or sending anything itself: it proposes, you approve. |
| [**Expert**](../knowledge/experts.md) | What Ask can, as far as the Expert’s [capabilities](../knowledge/experts.md#capabilities) allow (**Web browser** and **Images** are switched per Expert). Uses the asker’s own connections, never its creator’s. | The same as Ask. |
| [**Learn**](../learn/index.md) | Your course files, charts and Views to explain a point, and marking your answers, including a photo of your work. | Changing code, or sending anything. |
| [**Public Expert**](../knowledge/public-experts.md) | Only the files you publish, a route to your business, and web search and page reading if you allow it. | Your company data, memory, actions, the real browser, making images, visitors’ photos. |
| [**Code**](../developer/index.md), working on a task | Project files, run commands, app preview, the app test browser, Watch, screenshots of the app it built, web search, read a page, the real browser, PDF links, Ysra docs, maps routes, make images (up to 6 a task), save web images, company sources. Publishes and deploys when you approve. | Memory across threads. |
| **Code**, replying in the thread | Read-only: project files, the web, the real browser, Ysra docs, company sources. | Changing anything: that becomes a task. |
| [**Mayz**](../developer/mayz.md) | A private copy of the project, running and testing the app, the app test browser, Watch, the dependency check, web search and page reading for public lookups, cited in the report. | Changing your code, or acting outside its private copy. |
| [**Worker**](../workers/index.md) | What it was given when it started: company sources, web search, read a page, the real browser (with Watch), PDF reports, spreadsheets, make images, email drafts. Emails and posts always wait for your approval. | Starting other work, or publishing apps. |
| [**Voice**](../concepts/voice.md) | The tools of the conversation it is in (Ask, an Expert or a Code thread). | Anything that conversation can’t do. |
| [**Set up with Ysra**](set-up-with-ysra.md) | Web search to find your site (it asks before reading it), reading your site in the real browser, saving your logo and photos. | Your connected tools. |

## Examples

| Part | Ask it | Tools it uses |
|---|---|---|
| Ask | “Compare these three payroll providers and give me a spreadsheet with prices and sources.” | Web search, read a page, spreadsheet |
| Ask | “Open this property listing and summarise the price history and the photos.” | Real browser |
| Ask | “Read this contract and list the five clauses I should worry about.” | Your files |
| Ask | “Make me three visuals for our Ramadan offer.” | Make images |
| Ask | “Chart our monthly sign-ups from signups.xlsx as a line.” | Your files, charts and Views |
| Ask | “Turn this report into a 10-slide deck for Monday.” | Documents |
| Learn | “Mark my answer to question 3.” (with a photo of your working) | Your course files, marking |
| Ask | “What did the team decide about pricing on Slack this week?” | Company sources |
| Expert | A contract reviewer: “Review this supplier agreement against our standard terms.” | Your files |
| Expert | Release status: “Are we on track for Friday?” | Company sources (Jira, Slack) |
| Public Expert | A riad: “Do you have a room for two on Friday? How do I get there from Guéliz?” | Your files, maps route |
| Code | “Build a landing page for Barbershop Brasco in Marrakech; they offer home visits, make it luxurious.” | Web search, real browser, save web images, app test browser, app preview |
| Code | “The test `test_checkout_total` is failing: find out why and fix it.” | Project files, run commands |
| Code | “What’s in this folder?” or “Open this link and tell me what’s there.” | Answered straight away, read-only |
| Mayz | “Review this repository before we ship.” | Dependency check, app test browser, web lookups |
| Worker | “Every Monday at 9:00, read the bookings sheet and send me a PDF summary.” | Your files, PDF report, an approved email |
| Worker | “Every morning, open these three competitors’ pricing pages and tell me what changed.” | Real browser, Watch |
| Worker | Dependency watch: a daily check of a repository’s packages. | Dependency check |
| Voice | “Tell me where my Code task is, and approve the commit.” | The Code thread’s own |
| Set up with Ysra | “I run Riad Nejma in the medina: rooms, hammam and excursions.” | Web search, real browser, save web images |

<!-- media: ask-real-browser | Ask opens a listing in the real browser and answers from it | Web app → Ask → Thorough → paste a property listing link → “summarise the price history and the photos” → the steps show the page opened, scrolled and read → the answer cites the listing -->

## Why not everywhere

| Rule | What it means |
|---|---|
| Public Experts talk to strangers | No private data, no memory, no actions, and nothing costly a visitor could set off. |
| Changing things needs approval | Editing, running, deploying and sending happen only in Code tasks and Workers, and sends and deploys always wait for you. Ask and Experts propose. |
| Mayz reviews | It never changes your code. |
| Code’s quick replies only read | Anything that changes the project becomes a task. |
| Costly tools show their cost | The real browser and making images are charged by use, and each answer shows what it used. |
| Ysra says what is on | Asked “can you…?”, it answers from what is on in that conversation, says what is off and where to turn it on. |

## What the costly tools cost

| Tool | Cost |
|---|---|
| Real browser | About 17 credits for an hour of browser time; reading a page usually takes seconds. Shown on the answer or the run. |
| Make an image | Per image, shown on the answer or the run. Up to 6 in a Code task, 4 in an answer, 3 in a Worker run. |
| Code in Ysra’s cloud | About 41 credits for each hour of a standard machine. |
| Everything else | Part of the answer’s or the run’s usual credits. |

Every other limit is on [Limits and costs](../workspace/limits.md).
