title: Data, privacy and deletion
description: What Ysra keeps, what it never uses your data for, and how to delete a thread, a chat, an Expert, a Worker, a workspace or your whole account — and what happens to each.
---

This page explains what happens to the things you put into Ysra and the
things it makes for you, and how to delete them. It's for anyone who needs to
know where their data goes, and for the person who answers that question for
a team. The legal terms are in the [Privacy Policy](https://ysra.ai/legal/privacy).

## What Ysra keeps

| What | Kept until |
|---|---|
| Your Ask chats, Code threads, Experts and Workers | You delete them |
| Files in your Library | You delete them, or the workspace that holds them |
| Memory | You delete the memory |
| Your changes on your computer | In your folder, until you commit, push or undo them |
| Invoices and billing records | Always kept, as the law requires |

Ysra works on your computer's folders where they are. It doesn't keep a copy
of your folder: only the parts it reads for a task are sent to do the work.
See [Security](../security.md#on-your-computer).

## What Ysra doesn't do with your data

- Your prompts, code and files aren't used to train shared or public models.
- Content you give Ysra is information for the task, not instructions. A file
or a web page can't change what Ysra is allowed to do.
- Error reports from the apps never contain your questions, answers, files,
file names, email addresses or keys. You can turn them off in each app's
  settings. See [Boundaries and safety](../concepts/safety.md#error-reports).

## Delete a thread, a chat, an Expert or a Worker

You can delete the Code threads, Ask chats, Experts and Workers you made.

1. Open the item, or find it in its list.
2. Choose **Delete**.
3. Confirm. For example: “Delete this thread? It's removed from Ysra and its
   work stops.”

| Item | What happens at once |
|---|---|
| Thread | Removed from Ysra; any running work stops. |
| Chat | Removed from Ysra, with its share links. |
| Expert | Removed from Ysra; its public link stops answering. |
| Worker | Stops and is removed from Ysra. |

!!! warning "There's no Recently deleted"
A deleted item disappears from the app at once and can't be restored from
the app. It's erased for good after **30 days**. Until then, the Ysra
team can restore it if you ask: write to
    [support@ysra.ai](mailto:support@ysra.ai).

### Turn off instead of deleting

If you only want an Expert or a Worker to stop for a while, choose
**Turn off**. It's reversible at once with **Turn on**.

| Item | While it's off |
|---|---|
| Expert | Nobody can start a chat with it, and its public link stops. |
| Worker | It doesn't run on its schedule. |

## Delete a workspace

The owner of a workspace can delete it.

1. Open **Settings → This workspace**.
2. Choose **Delete this workspace**.
3. Type the workspace's name to confirm, then choose **Delete permanently**.

The workspace disappears for everyone in it at once: its Workers pause, its
plugins turn off and public links to its chats stop. Its files are erased
after **30 days**; until then, the Ysra team can restore it on request.

If you only want to put a workspace away, choose **Archive workspace**
instead. **Restore workspace** brings it back.

## When someone leaves an organisation

When a person leaves or is removed from an organisation, the company's work
stays with the company:

- the organisation's workspaces, Experts and Workers stay, and an owner or
  admin takes them over. Workers pause and say why;
- links they made to shared chats stop working;
- Code threads in a workspace they were removed from are hidden from them;
- their own conversations, threads and files outside the organisation stay
  theirs.

See [Workspaces and members](../workspace/organisation.md).

## Delete your account

To delete your account, write to [support@ysra.ai](mailto:support@ysra.ai)
from the address you sign in with.

Before an account can be deleted:

- if you're the only owner of an organisation that has other members, make
  someone else an owner first;
- if you own a workspace other people use, hand it over to one of them first.

When your account is deleted:

| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| At once | You're signed out everywhere and the account is switched off. Your threads, chats, Experts, Workers and your own workspaces are deleted, your plugins are turned off and your public links stop. |
| After 30 days | Everything is erased, and your name and email address are removed from what remains. |
| Always | Invoices and billing records are kept, without your name, as the law requires. |
