Connect Microsoft 365 so Ysra can read Outlook mail and calendar, OneDrive and SharePoint files and Teams, and send or post only after you approve each one.

On this page

The Microsoft 365 connector gives Ysra your Outlook mail and calendar, OneDrive and SharePoint files, Teams chats and channels, and your colleagues' names, with work or personal Microsoft accounts. Use it when answers should draw on your mail, calendar or files, or when you want Ysra to send mail, book a meeting or post in Teams for you. This page covers connecting, what Ysra may do with and without asking, and disconnecting.

Why connect Microsoft 365#

Area What Ysra can read
Mail Search Outlook mail, or list the newest, and read a message in full
Calendar Events between two times
Files Search your OneDrive, and SharePoint and OneDrive across your organisation, for files, pages and sites you can open; read a text file
Teams Your chats and their recent messages, your teams and channels, and a channel's recent messages
People Who you are signed in as, and colleagues by name, with their title, department and email

Reading is used as it is, in Ask, in Workers and in Code.

Connect#

Find it#

In Settings → Plugins, choose Browse directory, then Microsoft 365.

Sign in with Microsoft#

Choose Connect. Microsoft's page opens: sign in, and allow Ysra.

Ask#

In Ask, mention it as @microsoft365:

@microsoft365 What's on my calendar tomorrow?

If the company must approve Ysra first

Some companies let their people connect an app only after their IT admin has approved it. Microsoft then says the app needs an admin's approval. The IT admin approves Ysra once; after that, everyone in the company can connect.

What Ysra may do with it#

Action Needs your approval?
Read mail, calendar, files, Teams and people No: read-only
Send mail from your Outlook, with files from the chat attached Yes
Reply, or reply all, to a message Yes
Save a draft in Outlook Drafts, without sending it Yes
Create an event, with invitees, optionally a Teams meeting Yes
Save a file: a text file in your OneDrive, new or replacing one Yes
Post in Teams, in a chat or a channel Yes

Where the approval happens depends on where the work runs:

Where How changes are handled
Ask Each change is a card under the answer, titled for example Send mail · Microsoft 365, with exactly what will be sent: recipients, subject, the email and its attachments. Approve, Edit or Decline; nothing is sent before Approve.
A Worker Only the tools ticked for it; each change either Asks first or Runs on its own (logged in the run). See Plugins.
Code Reads only, unless Allow changes in Code is on for the connector; then Code makes changes without asking.
A review Reads only, never changes.

Emailing a report#

Ask for a report and have it emailed, for example “Email the PDF report to sam@example.com”. The card shows the PDF as an attachment. Edit can remove attachments, but not add others. After Approve, the card folds to one line, such as Sent to sam@example.com with 1 attachment (report.pdf). A follow-up such as “send it to Sam too” reuses the same email, without researching it again.

Disconnect#

On the Microsoft 365 page in Settings → Plugins, the ⋯ menu has Sign out (keeps the connector, ends Ysra's sign-in) and Remove.

If it doesn't work#

Microsoft says the app needs an admin's approval#

Why: the company lets people connect an app only after IT approves it. What to do: ask the IT admin to approve Ysra once, then choose Connect again.

Ask doesn't find a file#

Why: Ysra finds only files, pages and sites you can open yourself. What to do:

  1. Check you can open the file in OneDrive or SharePoint with the same account.
  2. Ask again with the file's name or the site it is on.

A Code run didn't send or change anything#

Why: Allow changes in Code is off, so Code only reads. What to do: ask for the change in Ask and approve its card, or switch Allow changes in Code on for the connector.
