Get free help with using Ysra beside any page — what help knows about your account, its daily limit, and how to reach the Ysra team.

On this page

Ysra help answers questions about using Ysra itself: what you can do here, how to set something up, and why something isn’t working for you. Use it instead of Ask when the question is about Ysra rather than your work: it is free and works even when credits are out. It answers from these docs, links the page it used, and starts from what your account has. This page covers where to open it, what it knows, its limit, and getting help from the team.

What help knows#

Help is free and knows facts about your account, never their content. It only answers questions about using Ysra; research, writing and code belong in Ask or Code.

Where to open it#

App Where What opens
Web Help at the foot of the rail, then Ask Ysra The Ysra help panel on the right, beside the page you are on. On a phone-sized screen it takes the whole screen. It stays open or closed as you left it.
Desktop Help in the rail, or Cmd+/ on a Mac, Ctrl+/ on Windows The same panel on the right, from every screen.
Phone Settings → Help (“Questions about using Ysra. Free, no credits used.”) The Help page: type in Ask about using Ysra…; “Ysra is looking…” while it answers; earlier questions under Earlier.

The panel says: “Ask anything about using Ysra. Answers come from the docs and what your account has set up, with the page they came from.” It offers three questions to start from — “What can I do here?”, “Why isn’t my work running?”, “How do I work on a folder on my computer?” — or type your own in Ask about using Ysra. New conversation starts again; Close help closes the panel.

Help conversations aren’t listed with your other Ask conversations, but the command palette (Cmd+K / Ctrl+K) still finds them.

The same Help menu has Start here: examples to run (see Start here: examples), Read the docs, the docs page for where you are, What’s new and Get the apps. In the command palette, Help and documentation opens these docs.

When the app offers “Ask Ysra about this”#

Where the app can tell you are stuck, it offers Ask Ysra about this. It opens the panel with a plain question already in the box, which you send yourself.

Where The question
Starting a thread with no repository or folder to work on “I don’t have a repository or a folder to work on yet. How do I get started?”
Setting up a Worker that can’t be activated “I’m setting up a Worker and it says: … What do I do?”, with what the page said
When your credits have run out “I’m out of credits. What can I do?”

The account-paused notice offers it too.

What it knows about you#

Ysra sees facts about your account, never their content:

  • your organisation, your role, what your role may not do and who can do it;
  • how many credits are left;
  • which tools are connected, which need reconnecting, and which are missing;
  • your repositories, devices and Workers, and what is waiting on you;
  • which apps you are signed in on.

So when something is blocking you, it says that first, with where to fix it or who can.

You ask It answers
“Why can’t I pick a repository?” GitHub isn’t connected, and where to connect it.
“What should I do first here?” The threads waiting for your answer.

The same knowledge is used in Ask: see Questions about Ysra itself.

Limits and cost#

Rule Value
Cost Free: it doesn’t use credits
Questions 20 a day
When credits are out or the account is paused It still works, so you can find out what to do next
Sending a conversation to the team Once an hour per conversation

What happens when …#

You reach 20 questions in a day#

It says: “That’s a lot of help questions for one day. The docs are at https://docs.ysra.ai, or send this conversation to the Ysra team with Get help.”, with Read the docs and Send this to the Ysra team.

You ask it for something that isn’t about Ysra#

Help doesn’t research, write, code or read your files. It says this conversation is for help with Ysra, and that a normal Ask conversation does it. See Ask.

It can’t answer#

It says it couldn’t find it. Send the conversation to the Ysra team with Get help from the team at the foot of the Ysra help panel, or Get help at the top of any Ask conversation:

Add a note if you like#

Anything to add? (optional): what you were trying to do, or what you expected to happen.

Send#

Choose Send to the team. The team gets the conversation and what your account has connected, so you don’t have to explain it again. They reply by email.

If it can’t be sent: “It could not be sent just now. Write to support@ysra.ai and include your question.”

The desktop app itself misbehaves#

Help → Send a report… in its menu bar sends what you write with the end of the app’s log. See Send a report.
