Charts and interactive Views
Ask Ysra to show an answer as a chart, a diagram or a small interactive page, save it as a View, and open it on its own page.
On this page
When a picture explains better than a paragraph, Ysra can put one in its answer: a chart of your numbers, a diagram of a process, or a small interactive page such as a calculator or a simulation you can drag and play with. This page is for anyone using Ask who wants answers they can see and explore.
What Ysra can show#
| Kind | What you get | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Chart | A bar, column, line, area, pie or scatter chart, with its data. | Numbers from a spreadsheet, a report or the web. |
| Diagram | A drawing: a flow, a structure, a labelled figure. | Explaining how something works or fits together. |
| Interactive | A small page that runs in the answer: sliders, buttons, a chart you can drag. | Trying "what if", exploring a model, practising. |
| Math | Formulas written out properly in the text. | Science, finance, engineering and exam answers. |
Ysra decides when a visual helps, or you can ask for one.
Ask for a visual#
Describe what you want to see, and where the data comes from:
Chart our monthly sign-ups from signups.xlsx for the last 12 months, as a line.
Draw how an order moves from checkout to delivery, with who does each step.
Make me an interactive loan calculator: amount, rate and years as sliders,
and the monthly payment and total interest as they change.
Show me how a Fourier series builds a square wave, adding one term at a time.
The visual appears inside the answer, where it belongs in the text. Under a chart, Data shows the numbers behind it.
Use an interactive View#
An interactive visual runs in a frame inside the answer, labelled Made by Ysra, it can't see your account. It runs on its own, apart from the rest of the app: it can't read your files, your conversations or your account, and it can't reach the internet.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Stop | Stops the visual if it's busy or you're done with it. |
| Run again | Starts it again from the beginning. |
Some Views suggest a follow-up question. Choosing it puts the question in the message box, ready for you to send or edit.
To change a visual, say what to change:
Make the bars horizontal and sort them from largest to smallest.
Save and open a View#
Choose Save as View on a visual to keep it. Saved Views appear in the side panel of the conversation, so you can find them without scrolling back.
Each View can be opened on its own page with Open the View, larger and without the conversation around it. On the phone, an answer shows a picture of the visual, and Open the View opens the interactive version in your browser.
What it costs#
A visual is made as part of the answer that contains it, and is counted in that answer's credits. See Credits and usage.
If it doesn't work#
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| “This interactive visual can't be shown here.” | Open it with Open the View, or ask for a chart or a picture instead. |
| “This drawing couldn't be shown.” | Ask Ysra to draw it again. |
| “This View isn't available. Open it again from your Ysra conversation.” | The link is out of date or incomplete. Open the View from the conversation it belongs to. |
